Art Joffer, 82 died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Freeman Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe with burial in the Monroe Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Prayer Service at 7:30pm. Arthur Garrett Joffer was born on January 28, 1931 at Okaton, SD to George and Marie (Hoekman) Joffer. In 1934 he moved from Okaton to Slayton, MN. He grew up on the farm and attended grade and high school in Chandler, MN. He enjoyed his friends in high school and especially loved playing basketball. Art was a lifelong follower of sports, particularly, baseball. He married Ione "Sis" Miller Bridges on April 3, 1978 and included Debi and Tami as his daughters. they continued to live and work on the farm. Art and his brother, Chuck, are known in the community not only for their accomplishments in farming, but also their generosity in assisting their neighbors in need. He loved family, farming and animals. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Ione "Sis"; daughters Debi (Mike) Fujan, Omaha, NE and Tami Bridges, Escondido, CA; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Isiah, Eric, Letitia, Wade, and Courtney and 5 great grandchildren, Kiyah, Mehki, Jace, Logan, and Kaden; 5 sisters, Effie, Helena, Elsie, Janice, and Sarena; and 3 brothers, Peter, John, and Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Harvey and Garrett, and 2 sisters, Marie and Margaret.
