Vernon L. Bossman, 77, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Germantown Presbyterian Church, rural Chancellor with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm Tuesday at Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm Tuesday evening. Vernon LeRoy Bossman was born on December 7, 1931 south of Chancellor, SD to Thomas and Mattie (Wolthius) Bossman. He attended country schools and graduated from Lennox High School in 1949. On December 21, 1951 he was united in marriage to Lois Dykstra at the Germantown Presbyterian Church. During the Korean War he served in the US Army and was stationed in Georgia. They returned to farm in the rural Parker area for the next fifty-plus years, retiring and moving into the city of Parker in 2004. His hobbies included woodworking, reading, and putting together puzzles. He was a member of Germantown Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Trustee, and on the building committee, treasure for Parker Township, and was on the Turner County Planning and Zoning Board. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Lois; 3 children, Larry Bossman, Parker, Wayne (Jeanne)Bossman, Parker, and Marcia (Mark) Walter, Yankton; 6 grandchildren, Tom (Christy) Bossman, Gaea (Mike) Noordsy, Steve (TammyJo) Bossman, Lindsay Bossman and friend Sasha Haleta, Katie (Dustin) Konda, and Adam Walter; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Troy Smith; a brother Alvin (Lowane) Bossman, Lennox; a sister Delores Otten, Lennox; a brother-in-law, Alfred Fischer, Tea; and a sister-in-law, Dianne Bossman, Harrisburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Marvin Bossman, a sister Lucille Fischer, and a brother-in-law, Orville Otten.
