Brian Merrill

Brian Merrill, 61 of Sioux Falls, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home.

Brian James Merrill was born on July 1,1965 to James and Donna (Connors) Merrill.  At an early age, he accompanied his mother when she joined the United States Navy and he lived in various locations, including the Philippines, Pennsylvania and Texas.  Subsequently, Brian joined the Navy himself in October of 1983 and served until January of 1989.  He attained the rank of E-5, Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class.  

Much of his Naval service was on the USS Queenfish Submarine based in Pearl Harbor with duties as an Auxiliary Equipment Technician, as well as Diesel Engine Maintenance Technician and other various duties.  His service included time in the submarine under the North Pole.  

Upon his honorable discharge, he worked various jobs including overhead garage door installation and maintenance.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, a sister, Misty, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.  

He is survived by one son, Theodore, and Brian's uncle, Frank (Carol) Merrill, as well as several cousins.
