Curtis Hoogshagen

Curtis Alan Hoogshagen, formerly of Monroe and Marion,  passed away on August 18, 2026, at the age of 75. He was born on June 20, 1951, in Whittier, California to parents, Frankie and Howard Hoogshagen.

Curtis’s family moved to Monroe, South Dakota where he grew up helping on the family farm, and he graduated from Marion High School in 1969. After graduation, he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and graduated in 1974. He worked briefly in Illinois and New Jersey after college and then moved back to Monroe to work on the family farm.

He moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1993 and worked for the Bella Vista Property Owners Association for over 20 years. He was known across Bella Vista for being an expert handyman and small engine repairman. He was a friend to many across Bella Vista and always welcomed visitors to watch sports, have a drink, or just chat outside.

He was a master gardener who was very proud of his lawn and landscaping. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and fishing with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frankie and Howard Hoogshagen and brother, Larry (Rose) Hoogshagen.

He is survived by his children, Kristen and Mackenzie (Gabriel) Hoogshagen; grandchild, Louisa DuBose; siblings, Martin (Julie) Hoogshagen, Jeff (Marlys) Hoogshagen, Gail (Jeff) Kellogg, and Todd Hoogshagen.

A memorial service be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Highlands Church Columbarium, 371 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715, with a reception to follow.
