Debra Kay Devitt, age 69, passed away peacefully on October 4,2026 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 16, 1957, Debra spent most of her life in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and also lived in Mitchell, South Dakota. She dedicated many years to working as a waitress at Fryn’ Pan, where she was known for her strong work ethic, warm smile, and genuine care for everyone she met. To many, she was more than a waitress—she was a friend, a listener, and a light in their day. Debra was a devoted Catholic who loved God deeply. Her faith guided her throughout her life and gave her strength, especially during her final years. She welcomed others with open arms and loved unconditionally, making everyone around her feel like family. During the last year of her life, Debra lived with her granddaughter, Ally Schleder, where she was surrounded by love, care, and companionship. Their time together became a cherished chapter filled with memories that will forever remain close to their hearts. Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a loving mother to Elizabeth Pounds, Jeremy Kidd, Michael Bucholz, and Derek Dicus. She adored her grandchildren: Lexi Clark, Peyton Bucholz, Dominick Pounds, Ally Schleder, Lakota Lelm, Ty Brockhaus, Joe Brockhaus, Luci Brockhaus, Alex Dicus, Lucian Dicus, and Luna Dicus. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought her immense happiness: Aria Avila, Leo Avila, Zaidyn Schleder, and one precious great-grandchild on the way, Kyler Pounds. Debra was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Laurie Mahoney, and her mother, Bette Kidd, whom she will join in heaven. She is survived by her father, Kenneth Kidd; her siblings, Lisa Frazeur and Kevin Kidd; and her dear friend, Michael Hanlon, along with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who loved her dearly. Debra will be remembered for her strength, resilience, sense of humor, and, above all, her unwavering love and faith. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and unconditional love will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
