Gayle Roeder

Gayle Roeder, 87 of Sioux Falls, formerly of Parker, passed away on August 8, 2026. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2026 at St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church, Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2026 at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 PM. Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home.

Gayle D. Roeder was born on July 15, 1939 in Fedora, SD to Wendell and Mabel (Naser) Mahoney. She was the 4th of seven children. She graduated from Plano High School and attended Stewarts School to become a beautician.

On August 29, 1959, Gayle was united in marriage to Alvin Roeder. To this union they had 5 children. Their marriage started in Nebraska, then moved to Parker in 1964. Gayle had her salon in the house until 1978, when she decided to open her doors to have an in-home daycare. She operated both for many years, retiring in 2010. Gayle loved having the children in her home; the days were always filed with adventure.

Faith and family were very important to Gayle. She was a member of St. Christina’s Catholic Church in Parker and St. Katharine Drexel in Sioux Falls. Gayle and Al loved attending all of their kids and grandkids events. They enjoyed bragging about them as much as they could.

Gayle will be missed. She is survived by her children Brenda (Steve) Schulz, Mark (Robin) Roeder, Michael (Wendy) Roeder, Barbara (Jason) Cass, and Lynelle Roeder; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her sister Bonnie; nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Gayle is preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
