Janene James

Janene James, Aurora, Colorado, passed away February 2, 2026, with her daughter, Jane and granddaughter, Meghan at her side. Burial will be at 10:00 AM Monday, August 3, 2026 at the Hurley City Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home.

Janene was born October 28, 1931, in Hurley, South Dakota, to Evelyn and Clifford Larsen. She spent her whole life dedicated to Early Childhood Education. She was an avid reader and gardener. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Grateful for having shared her life, are her daughters, Jane Cowan and Laura Schad; son, Daniel Chalcraft; grandchildren, Meghan, Adrian, RaeAnne, Taylor and Lauren; and great-granddaughters Edison and Wyatt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mitchell; sister Jerelyn and grandson Christopher.
