Kobee Trey Sherman, 19, of Viborg, South Dakota, joined the Lord on November 5th, 2025.

Kobee was born on April 4th, 2006, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls to proud parents Jason and Leslie Sherman. He joined older brothers Brodee and Gradee, whom he fought with and looked up to. His brothers were his best friends and biggest supporters.

He grew up in and graduated from Viborg-Hurley School District and went on to get his Business Administration degree from Southeast Technical College.

Kobee never failed to light up a room from a young age with his contagious smile and laughter. Growing up, Kobee spent a lot of time with family at both grandparents’ farms, getting into mischief with his cousins. He was always mature beyond his years and had a special knack for making friends, young and old, far and wide.

Kobee had a strong passion for sports, including football, basketball, and golf. His competitive spirit never failed to shine no matter the situation, whether it was a high school sporting event, a game of bean bags, or a game of pinochle. A good day spent for Kobee was spending time with his friends at school, in the gym, and in the weight room, occasionally lifting but mostly socializing. But his best day spent was with his favorite person, Hazel, who was his EVERYTHING!

Kobee was unfortunately forced to carry a heavy cross for the final years of his life, starting on March 23rd, 2023 when he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. He showed us all how to lean on faith and family, and continued to live life to the fullest by continuing to fight with a no-quit, positive attitude. Through his fight, he mentioned many times how he wanted to give back to the communities that he grew up in, and he was grateful that he was given the opportunity to touch so many young people’s lives by coaching and teaching at the Viborg-Hurley school district.

One of Kobee’s greatest passions was helping others, which inspired him to establish the Midwest Miracles Foundation. He built the foundation so other families could feel the love and support that he was shown by so many. The Midwest Miracles Classic was started for his love of basketball, and he wanted other young athletes to have the opportunity to play in the great atmosphere of a classic for a great cause.

Our hearts are breaking, but the heavens are rejoicing to have Kobee enter God’s loving arms.

Those who will cherish his memory are his parents, Jason and Leslie; Brothers Brodee (Abbey) and Gradee (Payton); Girlfriend Hazel Luethmers; Grandparents Linda Andersen, and Dick and LeAnna Sherman; Uncles and Aunts Leland (Sandy) Andersen, Mike (Chad) Boomgarden, JJ (Randy) Straatmeyer, Bill (Candace) Andersen, Jim Andersen, Mel (Kevin) Smith, John (Sarah) Andersen, Jeff (Jennifer) Sherman, Amy (Ted) Chavis, Joey (Sara) Sherman, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.

Kobee was preceded in death by his papa, Gary Andersen, and many other loved ones.
