Lenny Oltmanns

Lenny Oltmans, 66 of Monroe, SD died suddenly at his home on Thursday, July 9, 2026 from an apparent heart attack. Memorial services will be on 10:30am Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at the First Church of Monroe, Monroe, SD. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home.

Lenny John Oltmanns was born on July 12, 1959 at Rockford, Illinois to Emmo and Shirley (Potter) Oltmanns. The family moved to Monroe where he graduated from Marion High School in 1978. He was employed building grain elevators including the elevator in Marion. For 17 years he was employed by South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks where he planted and cultivated trees. On August16, 1997 he was united in marriage to Maureen Marquardt near Canistota. They lived in Monroe where he worked for Smith Tree Service and also was an iron scrapper. He was a member of the First Church of Monroe and served as an elder. He also was active in bible study.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Maureen; his parents Emmo and Shirley Oltmanns; a brother Dr. Matthew (Veronica) Oltmanns; a sister Linda Vogel; Maureen’s 3 children, Laura (Jeff) Schultz, Kevin (Kirsten) Kostboth and Paul (Heather Kostboth; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 6 nieces and nephews, Thalia (fiancé Seth) Bracknell, Weston Oltmanns, Zack ( Jessica) Vogel, Danica (Matt) Hanson, Serenity Vogel, and Courtney (Jerod) Grieme; and several great nieces and nephews.
