Mary Ann Keierleber

“One who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will lodge in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust!’”

Born in Midland, Texas, to Raymond and Christine Greene on February 1, 1947, Mary Ann Keierleber was a faithful servant of God throughout her entire life, right up to the end, asking for her Bible to be read to her when she could no longer and finding comfort in hymns sung by Alan Jackson when all she could do is listen. On August 15, 2025, Mary, known as Granmary and Mimi to her grandchildren, left her earthen vessel behind to be with her beloved Lord and Savior, where she is now rejoicing and whole, praising the Lord at His feet alongside her John.

Mary was the oldest of three girls, and lived in Midland, TX until she attended college at Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas, graduating in 1969. Working with the Inner-City missions at First Baptist of Dallas, Mary Ann met the love of her life, John, who also preceded her in death. They were married on December 21, 1968, spent fifty-four wonderous years together, and raised their two children, Amy and Jonathan, in the way of the Lord. Amy married Mark Roth of Parker, SD, in 1995 and had nine children, Kate (Casey Mier), Grace (Seth Star), Levi (Lizzie), Mary Jane (Reece Pfeil), Liza, Jack, Lucy, Caleb, and Callie. Jonathan married Leslie (Penn) of Mesquite, TX in 1999. They had four children, Ellie, Clara, Glory, and Judson. She left her job as an ER nurse in downtown Dallas in 1972, to begin her family with John. In 2000, John and Mary Ann moved to Parker, South Dakota, to be with Mark and Amy, bringing Jonathan and Leslie along a few years after they graduated from college. They lived in a little house on 2nd street for twenty-two years, until moving in with Jonathan and Leslie outside of Parker and eventually moving to Wyoming to live with Mark and Amy after John’s passing in 2023.

Mary Ann enjoyed being with her family, sewing her wardrobe as a young woman, sewing doll clothes for her granddaughters, crafting with friends and family, baking, hand-sewing, reading Christian fiction and watching old western tv series. John and Mary created a legacy of Christ-following disciples, beginning with their children, grandchildren, and now, their 6 great-grandchildren, Keith, Annabelle, Colt, Swagger, Bear and Bluberri. Mary Ann lived in the Lord, setting an example for generations to come. She and John started a legacy that will not fade, for the Word of the Lord does not fade away. Mary Ann always went above and beyond in hospitality and care for others, helping and loving unconditionally. She lived what she believed and loved the Lord her God with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength, and cherished her family.

Because of her example and faithfulness to the Lord, her descendants boldly walk the narrow way, serving God in all they do. Mary’s quiet way encouraged friends and touched many lives, and she can rest knowing that she lived a life of love in the Lord, a love that is passed down and will continue to be passed down through generations. Her greatest wish was that all would know the everlasting, all-consuming love of Christ. She prayed that God’s children would fellowship with one another and that those who did not know Christ would come to know His cleansing power and redemption from sin. We, as her family, ask that if you do not yet know the Lord as your Savior, you will lay down your sins and follow the Lord in all your ways, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23) but “salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). For, “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5).

Granmary laid down her many crowns at the Lord’s feet on August 15 at 3:50 A.M. We have a glorious hope that we will see her again, happy and whole. Praise God for Mary’s life, and in her passing, may many hearts be reminded of her love and faithfulness to the Lord. She will be greatly missed.

Her husband, John; sisters, Paula Jean Greene and Martha Jane Waller and parents all preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Mike Waller (Martha Jane); brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin, Jr. and Sharon, Stephen and Lee, Tim and Judy, Sarah Vaughn, James and Libby, Nathan and Kristi and her many nieces and nephews, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will not be a public memorial service, the family would like to celebrate her life and legacy in private.
